Twitter Homepage – Love it, or leave it?

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009 | By: Justin Kozuch

A few moments ago, the team at Twitter (under the direction of Doug Bowman) unleashed the new Twitter homepage:

It’s pretty interesting (and very telling of potential future plans) that they are able to segment their trending topics into time-based buckets. This only makes apparent the computing power of the Twitter API. The prominence of search has us thinking that Twitter is going in a new direction. It’s not just about conversations and connections anymore. We dare say: Twitter Search vs. Google Search? Round 1 of the battle has begun. The question is, who will be the real winner, and how will the battle be fought?

If you were the Creative Director at Twitter, in what direction would you have steered the design the home page? What would you have kept, and/or what you would you have added (or removed) to improve the user experience?
