The Rise of “Ethnic Media”

While mainstream media continue to wring their hands over the future of newspapers and the loss of ad revenue, another more optimistic scenario is playing out across the country. The so-called “ethnic media” – journalistic publications and broadcasts targeting new and third-language Canadians – are flourishing.

CJF Forums welcomes Jagdish Grewal, editor and publisher of Punjabi Post; Shirley Chan, managing editor of the magazine and supplement section of Ming Pao Daily News; Madeline Ziniak, Canadian Ethnic Media Association executive chair and OMNI Television national vice president; and Lori Abittan, president and CEO of Multimedia Nova Corporation, to discuss their respective visions, how they’re realizing them and the progress they’re making. Chief Diversity Officer of the Ontario Public Service and former journalist Noëlle Richardson will moderate the panel.

ING DIRECT Toronto Meet and Tweet

ING DIRECT Canada is welcoming social media buffs and community members to join us at our first Meet and Tweet in Toronto. Mix and mingle while discussing the use of social media and online communities, ways to save in the New Year, and getting to know fellow members of the ING DIRECT social community. The event will be hosted by Peter Aceto, President & CEO of ING DIRECT Canada, who will open up the discussion.

Meet and Tweet with us at the Darkhorse Espresso Bar in the heart of downtown Toronto.
