Response to the Now Toronto Article

Yesterday morning, I was made aware of an article written by Joshua Errett from NOW Magazine.

The article took me by surprise, as I was not consulted prior to it’s publishing.

I spoke to Mr. Errett yesterday morning via telephone to clarify some confusion and also to request a change in nomenclature, with respect to the types of events curated by organizations like Refresh Events, Sprouter, and Third Tuesday.

Joshua Errett’s clarification:

I seemed to have stepped on some toes here. The general point of the column is that there is an event overload, with many taking on too similar themes, and I used unconferences as my prime example. Perhaps I weaved too quickly between unconferences and more general tech events. Not all of the examples listed (Third Tuesday, Ignite!, FITC, Refresh Events, Sprouter) organize unconferences, but all hold events.
